The Value of Modern Homework

In my opinion, the traditional practice of assigning daily homework is largely outdated and counterproductive for modern students. While supporters argue that homework reinforces classroom lessons and instills self-discipline, excessive assignments often lead to burnout and high stress levels. Children spend seven hours a day in school, so forcing them to complete hours of additional tasks at home leaves little time for family bonding, exercise, or creative hobbies. Furthermore, excessive workload can actually diminish a student's natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. Instead of repetitive worksheets, schools should prioritize project-based learning that encourages critical thinking without overwhelming young minds. Ultimately, childhood requires a healthy balance between academic discipline and unstructured leisure, and reduced homework is essential to achieving that harmony.
