IELTS Speaking questions

What is IELTS Speaking Part 2?

Part 2 is the 'long turn'. You get a cue card with a topic and three or four points, one minute to prepare and make notes, then you speak on your own for one to two minutes.

How is IELTS Speaking scored?

Examiners give a band score from 0 to 9 on four criteria: fluency and coherence, lexical resource (vocabulary), grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation.

Should I memorise sample answers?

No. Examiners can tell, and memorised answers often sound unnatural. Use samples to learn structure and useful phrases, then practise your own answers on many different cards.

Are these the real exam questions?

No. These cue cards are practice material in the same format as Part 2. They are not recalled or predicted exam questions.

Band scores in JAM are practice estimates, not official IELTS results.
