Sample answer
about 248 words · 2 minutesI would like to talk about a day that genuinely changed the course of my life, which was about three years ago, right after I completed my final exams at university. On that particular morning, I was sitting in my kitchen waiting nervously for an email. The major event that occurred was receiving an official job offer from an international firm based abroad. I had applied for this position months earlier, but the selection process was incredibly competitive, so I honestly didn't expect much. When the notification popped up on my screen, I opened it with trembling hands, and seeing the word 'congratulations' felt almost surreal. My parents and my two closest friends were right there with me at the kitchen table. We had all gathered for breakfast, trying to distract me from the anxiety of waiting. When I shared the news, everyone erupted into cheers, and my mother actually shed tears of joy. Sharing that unforgettable moment with the people who had supported me throughout my studies made it even more special. This day had a massive impact on my life for several reasons. Firstly, it marked the transition from being a student to entering the professional world. Moving overseas for the role pushed me far out of my comfort zone, forcing me to become truly independent and self-reliant. Looking back, that single morning set off a chain reaction of positive changes, reshaping my personal growth and career trajectory in ways I could never have imagined before.

Tips for a higher band
- Use a range of narrative tenses like the past continuous and past perfect to clarify order of events.
- Elaborate on emotional responses using precise vocabulary instead of basic words like good or happy.
- Maintain a steady rhythm by grouping words into natural phrases rather than speaking word-by-word.

- Do you think people nowadays celebrate personal achievements as much as they used to?
